The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron
Founded in 1871, The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron is New Zealand’s senior yacht club and home of the 36th Americas Cup! The RNZYS’s reputation on the international yachting scene ensures it occupies a position of high prestige, nationally and internationally.
The RNZYS has a strong commitment to training and in 1987 launched its Youth Training Programme. As a result it has seen a generation of yachting dominated by Kiwi Sailors. In 2015 the RNZYS launched its first adult beginner Level 1 programme to establish a training ground for members and to introduce people to the sport of sailing at any age. At the RNZYS you will find something for any on-water passion, from power boats to paddle boards and everything in-between!

History
The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron is acknowledged as starting in 1871.
The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron is New Zealand’s most prestigious yacht club. Its enormous reputation on the international yachting scene ensures that the Squadron occupies a position of high prestige, nationally and internationally.
Emirates Team New Zealand was successful in winning the 2007, 2010 and 2013 Louis Vuitton Trophies as well as the 2009 inaugural Louis Vuitton Pacific Series and returned the America’s Cup to New Zealand in 2017 after a dramatic regatta.
The Squadron is excited about what history making endeavours lie in store for our members and the Club.

Facilities
Our state of the art function, meeting, dining and members areas are sure to impress.
We have changing facilities, toilets and shower to refresh after yachting so you come up to the Members Bar and enjoy the view.

Events
Over the summer we run yacht races almost every night of the week, so if racing is your thing we’ll have that more than covered!
We also have a cruising series with casual destination races, followed by post race festivities on the beach and our annual squadron weekend at Kawau Island.
Not to mention our off water events include everything from Ladies coffee Mornings and networking events to speaker series luncheons and even kids discos! We aim to make sure there is something for everyone to love at the RNZYS!

Membership
At the beginning of a course you’ll receive one month of membership at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. You’ll be able to use the facilities and get a full taste of what being an active sailing member of the RNZYS is like!
There are many different types of Membership types available to suit you including Full, Crew, Associate, Country, Junior, Family or Overseas Membership. We value our members greatly at RNZYS and always put your interests first.
